Cans of Vodka Seltzer Went Out Packaged Like Energy Drinks. They've Been Recalled.

Some High Noon cans may offer a bit more than expected. High Noon voluntarily recalled Beach Variety packs Tuesday, saying some contained the vodka seltzer beverage in cans mislabeled as Celsius energy drinks. A Food & Drug Administration recall message said drinking some cans of Celsius Astro Vibe—the Sparking Blue Razz Edition, specifically—could 'result in unintentional alcohol ingestion.' High Noon's parent company, Gallo, hasn't received reports of illnesses or 'adverse events,"the company said. 'We are working with the FDA, retailers and distributors to proactively manage the recall to ensure the safety and well-being of our consumers,' spokeswoman Krista Fontana said in a statement. Celsius (CELH) is 'actively supporting High Noon's voluntary recall efforts' the company said. A supplier used by both companies sent empty Celsius cans to High Noon's manufacturer, the recall notice said. The Celsius cans were then filled with the cocktail, packed in with High Noon cans and shipped. They may have been sent to Florida, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin, Fontana said. Consumers can identify the cans in question by their silver lids. They may be among the black-lidded High Noon cans, with codes L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to L CCB 02JL25 3:11 on the bottom of cans, the notice said. Consumers who bought packs with the mislabeled cans can contact High Noon's consumer relations team at consumerrelations@ to learn about next steps, including refunds. High Noon-Celsius Mixup: High Noon Says Some Vodka Seltzers Were Mislabeled As Energy Drinks

Two production lots of High Noon hard seltzers were recalled Wednesday after the company found some of the packs contained cans mislabeled as Celsius energy drinks, which still contained High Noon vodka seltzer alcohol. The recall was announced Wednesday. (Photo by) Getty Images The recall specifically applies to production lots of High Noon Beach Variety packs, which are 12-pack products containing 12 fluid ounce cans. Some of the packs have cans mislabeled as the sparkling blue razz edition of Celsius' Astro Vibe energy drink, which features a silver lid instead of the drink's standard black lid. Impacted lot codes shared by the FDA can be seen on the exterior of the High Noon 12-pack or the bottoms of the Celsius cans. No illnesses or adverse events have been reported for the recall as of Wednesday, though High Noon has advised those with the impacted Celsius lot codes to not consume the vodka seltzer alcohol in the cans. People who purchased impacted 12-packs can contact High Noon consumer relations to receive information on refunds. The affected 12-packs were sent to retailers in Florida, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin, according to High Noon. How Did The Celsius Cans End Up In High Noon Packs? High Noon said in a statement published by the FDA the mixup occurred because a packaging supplier who works with High Noon and Celsius mistakenly shipped empty energy drink cans to High Noon. High Noon was released in 2019 and has since become the top-selling spirit brand by volume in the U.S., offering vodka and tequila hard seltzers and vodka iced teas. The brand sold an estimated 21.4 million cases in 2023, according to The Spirits Business, which cited data from Shanken's Impact Databank of the spirits market. Celsius is owned by Celsius Holdings but has a major shareholder in PepsiCo, which has invested $550 million into the energy drink brand. The company reported $306.5 million in revenue from the North American market, a 10% drop from the same quarter a year ago.
